The segment’s growth rate of 10.1 per cent last year was driven by robust crop income and historically low interest rates, according to a report

Unfortunately the agricultural property values in Southern Ontario are being driven up by land developer's and not the farming industry. Small size family run farming is giving way to large scale farming or land development. It is not a healthy direction for our futures. Only the large developer's are able to buy up farm land and subdivide it into hundreds of lots, whereas the farmer sells his land because it is not longer sustainable to run a 100 acre farm. Because the government no loner allows small parcels of land to be severed from farm properties, the loss of potential income from that to the family run farms has forced many small operations to sell.
