The effect of a home renovation tax credit that the federal government has promised to revive has divided agents, with some predicting it could increase home prices, while others say its impact would be negligible

    I think many are missing an important point. Talk to any small renovator or service provider. One of the biggest challenges small contractors face is everyone want's to do a cash deal to avoid the dreaded HST. This way at least the pressure will be off the contractors as now more owners will stop looking at under the table deals. CRA will get their $$$, the homeowners will stop tax avoidance and contractors can now collect HST. Looks like a win to me.
