And the current president of the foundation will be the first to ride pillion for the trip.

“I will be the first president to ride in the ride on the back of a motorcycle as I do not own one other presidents that have rode in the ride have owned their own bike,” Barb Whitney, an agent with Century 21 and president of the Ontario Realtors Care Foundation, told REP. “Now mind you the past presidents have always fundraised for this great event even if they were not on a motorcycle.”

The ride will kick off on Wednesday, July 6 in Newmarket and stop at a number of agent offices before ending in Sudbury.

“We will be treated to lunch in Muskoka by the Muskoka Haliburton Orillia -The Lakelands Assocation of Realtors [and to]dinner in Sudbury by the Sudbury Real Estate Board,” Whitney said, “with stops in between at The Barrie and District Association of Realtors and the North Bay Real Estate Board.”

The funds raised will go back into communities across Ontario. The goal is to raise $25,000 this year.
The event started in 2006 and has taken place each summer since.

“11 years ago a bunch of riders, who were Realtors, as part of their usual vacation decided to raise money and give it to the foundation and it has grown from there,” Whitney said.
