Lighter Side: High fashion hits Toronto

If you thought Trump was the most famous name to storm the Toronto condo market, think again.
Karl Lagerfeld, the man behind the incomparable Chanel brand, is set to design two lobbies in a new mixed-use condo development, called Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos.
The project will be a North American first for Lagerfeld, the acclaimed designer, artist and photographer, who is based in Paris, France.
“We have always sought to find ways to partner in our developments with some of the great design minds of our generation, and share their style,” said Peter Freed, president of Freed Developments. “We look forward to sharing Karl Lagerfeld’s distinctively ultramodern, highly structured style for the Art Shoppe Lofts + Condos and believe that his premier Canadian condominium design will create spaces that will be valued by our residents, treasured by our city, and appreciated by the world.”
The condo project, which will consist of one 28-storey tower and one 12-storey mid-rise building, will be located at Yonge and Eglinton, and is still under the registration phase.
