Vancouverites urged to have their say on city's future

by Steve Randall12 Feb 2020

The City of Vancouver wants to hear from residents from all backgrounds and communities to help it plan for the city’s future.

The council is urging all Vancouverites to have their say in a survey which ends February 28; so far most responses have been from English-speaking people over 40 without young children.

The survey will inform city planning to ensure that Vancouver is the best it can be over the next three decades and officials say its important that this reflects the need of a diverse community.

The survey has achieved a mix of homeowners, renters, workers, and many others.

As well as an online survey at which is available in 5 languages, City staff are also spending time in neighbourhoods where responses are lower so far.

An initial report to City Council is planned for early March with early results and next steps, with a full public report back planned for July when the first phase of city-wide engagement ends.
