What's the biggest benefit of getting a selling agent?

Selling a home might turn out to be one of the most stressful parts of being a property owner, but hiring an agent could ease the stress of the process, according to RE/MAX.

RE/MAX said an agent will have the expertise and resources to ensure that a property is put on the market at the right time.

"Your realtor will be able to judge the best time for selling your home, which can actually help it sell faster and for a higher price," RE/MAX said.

Agents can also helo ensure the property is priced correctly. RE/MAX said realtors are capable of getting the highest price for the quickest sale.

RE/MAX said one of the pitfalls of going through the for-sale-by-owner (FSBO) route is incorrect pricing, which could potentially leave properties sitting on the market for a longer time.

"Experienced real estate agents can be worth their weight in gold. We're not saying you can't sell your home yourself, and in fact, many people do. But there are risks that can be mitigated by working with someone who's been there, done that," RE/MAX said.

Citing a study by the National Association of Realtors in the United States, RE/MAX said getting the right price is a major problem for roughly one in five FSBO sellers.

Real estate agents also have the skills to properly market the property to the right audience.

"They are pros when it comes to staging your home to look great and attract the right buyer. Whether it's moving furniture around or bringing in some of their own props, they will be sure to make your home look like it's ready to be sold," RE/MAX said.
